an anyone help me ... I new to OSF/UNIX/ADVFS so bare with me.
I am planning to move my disk farm inc root and usr domains from a SWCXR
controller based raid5 sets to an HSZ40 controller based raid5 sets. I am not
quite sure what the best way of going about this is can anyone advise?
I am using advfs file system which looks like this :-
Filesystem 512-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
root_domain#root 131072 109874 9200 92% /
/proc 0 0 0 100% /proc
usr_domain#usr 7827456 812894 6289936 11% /usr
usr_domain#oracle_fs 7827456 687940 6289936 10% /mnt/oracle
users_dmn#user900_fs 8220672 562 3401840 0% /mnt/user900
users_dmn#user901_fs 8220672 400958 3401840 11% /mnt/user901
users_dmn#user902_fs 8220672 3862 3401840 0% /mnt/user902
users_dmn#user903_fs 8220672 1194818 3401840 26% /mnt/user903
users_dmn#user904_fs 8220672 1084414 3401840 24% /mnt/user904
users_dmn#user905_fs 8220672 149214 3401840 4% /mnt/user905
I am aware that I just can't do a straight transfer of the disks as the BA350
controller that we are currently using to the HSZ40 as the meta-data is
completly different. I am going to have to reconfigure the system from scratch
and this is where I'm a bit nervous/nieve about doing.
I currently have 2 raid5 sets One for system stuff and the other for data the
are constructed from 3XRZ28 disks.
The disklabel entries are like this
8 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
a: 131072 0 ADVfs # (Cyl. 0 - 31)
b: 262144 131072 unused 1024 8192 # (Cyl. 32 - 95)
c: 8220672 0 unused 1024 8192 # (Cyl. 0 - 2006)
d: 0 0 unused 1024 8192 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)
e: 0 0 unused 1024 8192 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)
f: 0 0 unused 1024 8192 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)
g: 7827456 393216 ADVfs # (Cyl. 96 - 2006)
h: 0 0 unused 1024 8192 # (Cyl. 0 - -1)
All I want to do is transfer the data from one controller to another without
altering the system configuration. I do not have any problems understanding how
to set up the raid sets in the HSZ40 it's just how to transfer the data and
rebuild the system back to its current configuration
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance
