How do I retrieve lost pixels?

Hi all,

After I logged in and started my favourite applications the X-server
has reserved some 40 pixels. Later, maybe after several hours and
after I used several programs several times, it often happens that
there are many more pixels reserved, i.e., there are much fewer free
pixels. This is so even if I ran exactly the same processes as when
I started. Thus the X server has not released unused pixels correctly.
I have not yet figured out if there is a particular program being
the possible culprit. On other machines, when similar problems
happened, one could get the pixels back with

xstdcmap -delete default

but this does not help here. My machine is a AlphaStation 200 4/166
running OSF/1 3.2A and Open3D V3.0

Can anybody help?

Bjorn
