Upgrading firmware on an Adaptec 1742A

Hello there friends and neighbors,

I must admit that I am relatively new to OSF and as such I apologize in
advance if this is a blatantly newbie question ;)

I recently acquired a dec pc (150 mhz) that was running NT. I would like to
install OSF on it, but I when make the attempt, I get an error informing
me that the firmware on my adaptec 1742 (EISA) card must be upgraded. I
jumped over to Adaptec web page and got the upgrade proggies which are for dos.
Is there a way to utilize these files or an easier way altogether to upgrade
this card?
