wall weirdness????

I can't seem to get wall to work. I am using tcsh (it doesn't work with
ksh either). Versions 3.2 of DU.

[ROOT]/usr/users>wall
what the hell?
<ctl-d> (like all other unix boxes)

Nothing happens, it just sits there. Wall with a file as input works
just fine.

Any clues?
