Hi All,
My original question was:
I am in the position of having to implement a Internet firewall on a
Alpha Workstation. The Alpha would be the gateway machine, screened by
routers used as packet filters as follows:
INTERNET
SERVICE INTERNAL
PROVIDER NETWORK

The Alpha would be used to provide proxy services such as mail, WWW,
ftp, etc.
I was thinking of using the TIS FWTK. Does this compile OK under Digital
Unix?
Are there any other Firewall products around that run under DU? Does
anybody have any experience that they would like to share?
Any help would be _greatly_ appreciated.

I recieved a number of answers from DEC people, who suggested that I try
the SEAL product, with some pointers to URLs for more info. However, we
are not on the Internet, except through a X400 gateway, a catch 22
situation, whereby we need an Internet Firewall to access information on
Firewalls ;-).
I received one answer from someone who said that he had evaluated the
SEAL product, and ended up buying Firewall-1. Firewall-1 is not yet
ported to Digital Unix, which rules it out at this stage.
I received one answer saying that Eagle from Raptor works under Digital
Unix, and that they were happy with the product.
And I received one answer to say that yes, someone had compiled the FWTK
on Digital Unix and it works OK. He could not remember major hassles in
compiling the toolkit, and they were very pleased with the product.
As the Firewall Toolkit is a free product, it fits in nicely with our
budget, and we will try that first.
