PCI Alphastations

Hi,

We have a project in which we need to build a high speed data interface
controlled by a high performance workstation. We are considering the
new Alphastation 600 with the PCI-64 bus. According to DEC, it is the
only workstation with PCI 64 right now, and I'm betting it is probably
the highest performance right now. I have a couple of questions in
that regard:

1. While the 264 MB/s peak transfer rate sounds good, what is the memory
subsystem capable of? Also, could there possibly be a 66 MHz (528 MB/s)
version in the future? (We need HIGH throughput.)

2. Is building peripherals for the Alphastation PCI the same as for any
other computer (PC, MAC) using PCI? Since the PCI is supposed to be an
"Open Standard" bus, is all the relevant information published?

3. Finally, is there documentation or examples for writinga device
driver for a custom PCI bus device?

thanks in advance for any information.
