Use of netgroups in NIS

Hello folks,

        Im using NIS on V3.2 machines.

        From reading the netgroup man page I get the
        impression that this mechanism could be used
        to allow/prevent user access to hosts in
        a NIS domain.

        Is this correct? If so I would be interested
        in the observations of anyone who has been
        successful (or otherwise) in using this
        mechanism.
