No replies related to this question has been addressed.

By the way, is the Hylafax gonna do the job? Could someone fill me up more?

Most of those suggested was to use Ghostscript which has ps2ascii
program/binary incorporated with it.

This can be obtained from:

         infosys.zdv.uni-mainz.de

    Location: /pub/ZDV-Installation/gnu/machines/ALPHA/bin
           FILE -rwxrwxr-x 563 Oct 5 1994 ps2ascii
    Location: /pub/ZDV-Installation/gnu/machines/ALPHA/share/ghostscript/3.12
           FILE -rw-rw-r-- 12317 Dec 14 1994 ps2ascii.ps
    Location: /pub/ZDV-Installation/gnu/machines/ALPHA/share/ghostscript/3.33
           FILE -rw-r--r-- 15097 Jun 29 13:58 ps2ascii.ps
    Location: /pub/ZDV-Installation/gnu/machines/ALPHA/share/gs-2.6.1

> Can the Alpha keyboards be replaced by PS/2 compatible keyboards?

Selden Ball suggests:
--------------------

Only DEC layout keyboards are available for DEC 3000 series systems.
There may be some 3rd party keyboards available with PS/2 layout,
but I haven't seen any.

On the other hand, AlphaStations are essentially PCs with Alpha CPU chips.
They come with PS/2 keyboards.
PS/2 compatible keyboards with DEC's usual layout are also available
(E.G. LK411). They're also available for Intel PCs.

Dave <golden_at_falcon.invincible.com> has this to say:
---------------------------------------------------

Alphas which use PS/2 style keyboard connections can use
PS/2 keyboards (the AlphaStations and AlphaServers, not the
3000's).

You can also use an AT style keyboard with a DIN to mini-DIN
adapter.

Rob Lembree sez:
---------------

Yes, but if you go off the deep end, you may have to customize the
keymap file. I am currently typing into an AlphaStation 400 4/233 with
a Microsoft keyboard, and it works like a champ.
