[Q] local filtering and remote printing

I want to setup a printer server that accepts print requests from clients and
sends them off to the printer. On many of the printers I need to filter the
input on the server, for example convert text to postscript. Many of my
printers will be defined as remote on the server, using the the printcap rp/rm
to send the data to the printer.

My problem is that lpd ignores the if/of-filters for remote printers. The only
solution I have found is to have two printers defined, and have the first
printer filter the input and send it on to the second one that does the
remote printing.

Is there a better way to do filtering on a printer defined as remote?

/Mats
