PXG options

A colleague of mine has a 3000/600 in which he believed he has a
24 bit graphics adapter. I've done some poking and the system
claims (from 'sizer -gt') to have a PMAG-DA in it. There's also
this in /var/adm/messages:

vmunix: px0 at tc0 slot 1
vmunix: pq0 (5x1 8+8+0+0 128KB)

There is also one (very old) entry in /var/adm/messages where
the numbers read 8+8+24+0 instead.

`xdpyinfo' shows 3 depths available (1, 8, 24) for the screen
but all of the listed visuals are 8 bit visuals.

Can anyone shed any light on exactly what he does have in his
system?

Thanks,

Ray.
