My question:

The consensus: the most recent version is 8.7.1, available from
such places as

ftp://ftp.auscert.org.au/pub/mirrors/ftp.cs.berkeley.edu/ucb/sendmail/
ftp://ftp.cert.dfn.de/pub/tools/net/sendmail/
Everyone felt that we should install the newer version of sendmail,
although there might be some decnet incompatibilities.
