SUMMARY: creating bootable cdroms

About six hours ago I asked about creating a CD-ROM which would boot an
Alpha. I had done everything according to my scheme yet I ended up
with discs which would boot, but had unmountable filesystems.

Well, the answer is that our Mac screwed up the image copy of the
SCSI hard drive. I made a CD-ROM of the same hard drive using the
CD Studio from Young Minds Inc. which is connected to a 200 4/233.
This disc works fine and boots the system. Yeeeeeeeehaw!

I have made many image copies of UFS CD-ROMs in the past using the Mac
and never had any trouble. But this is the first time I've tried to
create an image of a UFS hard drive using the Mac. Yet another
instance of wasting hours of time thanks to the Mac. Grumble.

Thanks to the following folks who quickly responded with good advice,
and to the other people who will respond before seeing this summary.
