After trying to compile gcc 2.7.0 on an Alpha 250 4/266 and a
3000-300X and getting this error message:

mips-tfile, /tmp/ccaaohFa.s:0 index 4294967295 is out of bounds for
lstrs, max is 0, mips-tfile.c line# 4643

I tried compiling 2.6.3 instead and got this message:

mips-tfile, /tmp/ccaaoiDa.s:0 index 4294967295 is out of bounds for
lstrs, max is 0, mips-tfile.c line# 4642

Looks familiar, doesn't it? At any rate, I tried compiling both via
make bootstrap, as well as using the separate make steps as per
INSTALL. If someone could please clue me in on what it is that I am
missing or that needs to be altered, I would be most appreciative. As
usual, the responses will be summarized.
