TZ87 dump speeds from a Alpha 150/2000

We have a Alpha 150/2000 dual-bootable to NT and OSF/1 3.2C.

If I boot the machine into OSF/1 and dump a filesystem onto the local TZ87
drive, I get backup speeds of about 0.36 Mb/sec. Is this a normal speed for
such drives? It seemed a bit slow. The tape is not streaming much.

If I try to use rdump to dump our 8Gb RAID on our Alpha 3000 running OSF/1
onto the 2000's TZ87, it estimates (and appears to take) almost 36 hours
(0.06 Mb/sec). I wouldn't have thought the network was another bottleneck,
but maybe I'm wrong.

Has anyone had experience with this type of setup and have any suggestions
for improving local and/or network tape speeds.
