SWXCR config modification prevents reboot

Hello,

To add a single disk in 'JBOD' mode in an SWXCR-EB Raid controller on a DEC
ALPHA 2100/500 I created a new drive group with that single disk and a new
logical drive with just the new drive group. What I unfortunately did not do
was to initialize the disk as I thought that for a JBOD disk an
initialization was not necessary. Apparently not true, because the system
does not boot any more, instead it loops in the startup tests i.e. it
restarts them when it fails the test of the new disk instead of just
reporting the fault and continuing the boot process.

So I am now faced with the problem that I cannot get into console mode
because these tests loop, hence I have no way of getting into the arc
firmware program that would allow me to load the Standalone Raid
Controller Program to run the initialization program for the new disk.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or does anyone have an idea on how
to get out of this nasty situation?

Any help is very much appreciated.
