Regards,
Today I tried to perform a bootp boot on one of our Alpha's to perform a
firmware upgrade. The machine in question is a DEC3000-M600, thus requiring
the m400_v6_2.btp file (I plan to upgrade to 3.2C). In the /etc/bootptab on
the remote server I have
.fw3400.alpha:bf=/cdrom/cdrom/dec3000/m400_v6_2.btp
machine:tc=.fw3400.alpha:ht=ethernet:gw=xxx.yyy.zzz.1:sm=255.255.255.0:ha=08002bbd627f:ip=xxx.yyy.zzz.ppp:
where xxx.yyy.zzz.1 is the gateway address (default router) the client should
use and xxx.yyy.zzz.ppp is its ip-address
when I try
boot ez0
on the client, nothing happens. It seems like there is no packets reaching
the server (I have 'bootpd -d 4' on the server and cannot see any incoming
requests). Do I have to enable a bootpgw on the client's subnet or something
? I does not look like so reading the 'Sharing software on a Local Area
Network' manual, section 6.3. What am I missing ??
P.S
I have
tftp dgram udp wait root /usr/sbin/tftpd tftpd
/cdrom/cdrom
bootps dgram udp wait root /usr/sbin/bootpd -d 4 bootpd
in /etc/inetd.conf and I have succesfully been able to tftp the file in
question.
