Odd RZ29B problem?

   Anyone run into this yet?

We are running DU V3.2 on a Alpha 2000/300 and recently attempted to add
a RZ29B to an external box. We're using the Adaptec SCSI board instead
of the TurboChannel one, but had a number of problems that DEC's answers
included - "Well, that drive won't work with that SCSI bus." There were
also archived notes about problems with RZ29B's and firmware ... but we
didn't think this would be a problem with the older Alpha.

Took another stab at it on Black Friday (one of our favored days for any
system upgrades) and someone noticed that the disklabel had RPM setting
of 3600 for what is a 7200 RPM disk. Switched the disklabel and it has
been working fine ever since (well, "ever since" hasn't been that long).

Anyone know what's up here? I thought scu was supposed to figure these
settings out by checking the drive ... but it doesn't seem to have been
   the case in this situation.
