Thanks to the immediate response of 2 DEC-people I know now that
DUX does not support 24 Bit with an ATI-MACH64 card.

3.2c supports the ati64 in exactly one depth/visual: 8bpp pseudocolor.
It should complain about your "-vclass TrueColor"
in /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-errors. Also, I'd like to see your entire
xdpyinfo output. It should only list one visual.

Sorry to say that TrueColor visuals are not supported on this
graphic adapter. To do this, you need a ZLX.
