DU3.2A - panic (cpu 0): leaf should be empty

Does anyone have any idea what
        panic (cpu 0): leaf should be empty
comes from? This is an Alphastation 200 4/100, running DU 3.2a and
AFS 3.4beta. Primarily used for ftp (wu-ftpd 2.4.2beta7) and httpd
(NCSA 1.4.2) access. I've seen the panic twice in the last two days; no
core dump gets generated.
