Hi, This is the result of a general query on using LSM to mirror/stripe
filesystems over 4 4.3 GB disks. I should have made it clear that the
filesystems that require mirroring will not exceed 8.6 GB so mirroring
can be done. The real question I was concerned with was the penalty if any of
striping a number of filesystems over the same physical disks.
My thanks to Mike Matthews and Allan Small who between tham suggested.
1) Use RAID and don't separate the filesystems out if they weere to be
accessed in a roughly equivalent manner. (Mike)
2) Use a single 8.6GB mirrored striped volume with ADvFS as there would be a
penalty in using 4 UFS striped filesystems over the same physical disks.
(Allan)
Thanks for your interest,
