We have ORACLE 7.1.6 running on the Alpha 2100 (DUX 3.2c) and have found that
the oracle shadow processes are growing to obscene sizes(routinely 20MB+). Is
anyone else experiencing this phenomenon.
I believe the size of the processes are so large because they utilize shared
memory and DUX charges each processes Virtual size 100% for each segment
attached to and charges the Resident size with actual usage for each segement.
Therefore, because we have 75MB of Shared memory buffers each process is charged
75MB to its Virtual size, plus actual usage of the buffer to its resident size.
If anyone has similar experiences or a answer I would appreciate any
help provided.
