SUMMARY: what to set mail locking to?

The 3.2 release notes and mail_manual_setup(7) mention problems in
file locking between mh-based mailers and BSD-based mailers. However,
I could find no indication of what the default was, or what the
"correct" value would be.

>From the man page
Valid values for MAILLOCKING are as follows:
  0 Specifies lockf.
  1 Specifies lockfile.
2 Specifies Multi-channel Memo Distribution Facility (MMDF). This
      applies to MH only.
  4 Specifies lockf.
5 Specifies that both lockf and lockfile are used.

I got two suggestions for #5, and one suggestion to try whatever the
default wasn't. No one offered any thoughts on why this matters or
what the default is. I guess I need to blindly try and see what helps.
