Hi all:
I am trying to mount some disks on machine fred from machine jim via nfs.
jim is running ultrix v4.3, fred is running Digital Unix.
When I try to do:
/usr/sbin/mount -a -t nfs
I get the following error message:
Can't access /jim5: Permission denied
Can't access /jim6: Permission denied
Can't access /jim7: Permission denied
Can't access /jim8: Permission denied
Here is the relevant info. I'm mounting /jim* from jim onto
fred (the alpha machine).
/etc/fstab on fred:
/jim5_at_jim /jim5 nfs rw,bg 0 0
/jim6_at_jim /jim6 nfs rw,bg 0 0
/jim7_at_jim /jim7 nfs rw,bg 0 0
/jim8_at_jim /jim8 nfs rw,bg 0 0
ls -l of /jim dirs on fred:
drwxrwxrwx 2 root system 512 Jan 2 14:52 jim5
drwxrwxrwx 2 root system 512 Jan 2 14:52 jim6
drwxrwxrwx 2 root system 512 Jan 2 14:52 jim7
drwxrwxrwx 2 root system 512 Jan 2 14:52 jim8
/etc/exports on jim:
/jim5 fred
/jim6 fred
/jim7 fred
/jim8 fred
jim is running mountd and nfsd. I can't think of what the problem
can be. Any ideas? We have another pair of ultrix/osf machines on
which this works fine, and I can't seem to find any differences, except
that enhanced security is running on the alpha that can't mount remote
disks, but it isn't on the one that can.
Cheers,
--Lee
