Mumps and Ada

Dear managers:

I'm taking an Ada programming class (hopefully it will cover embedded
systems) this fall using an Ada compiler on a PC. How portable is
DIGITAL UNIX version of Ada with pc versions? I plan on installing Ada
on our Alpha for the semester and downloading code to and from the
pc.

Also, I used to work for a software development company for one year
where we had an unlimited precision version of Unix ansi Mumps. We
ported our version to about every Unix platform there was except for an
obscure Unix-look-alike on an Apollo system. The company had a
handshake deal with DEC to distribute our Mumps-- but our company
president and founder and his lawyers couldn't agree with DEC's lawyers
so we all lost our jobs when the creditors came after us. Anyways,
what is the unix Mumps world like these days? I read that DEC sold off
its DSM mumps? How does VMS mumps compare with OSF/1 Mumps?

Thanks!!!
