Hi all,
Ive aquired a HP JetDirect EX - External Network Interface to sit on the
network. There is no specific software availbale to be used to configure it
for Digital Unix. The software is available for SunOs & HP-UX systems, though
it is not impossible to do it under DU. Ive managed to get the box acquire its
IP address through BOOTP using the following bootptab entry:
JetDirect1:hn:ht=ether:vm=rfc1048:ha=????????????:ip=??.??.??.??:sm=??.??.??.??
The ?? do contain the actaul values.
Ive attached a HP LaserJet 4MP printer to the box, but do not know the correct
printcap entry to use, specifically the 'rp' option. Ive had the printer
connected to the serial port of the machine with the following printcap entry:

The printcap entry Ive setup for the JetDirect box is for a remote printer,
given below:

:rm=JetDirect1:\
:rp=pr1:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd2:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:
Since I do not have the required software which sets up the printcap entry and
no relevent examples in the JetDirect Manual I can not get the box to print.
With the above printcap entry I get the following 'lpc stat':
JetDirect:
printer is on remote host JetDirect1 with name pr1
queuing is enabled
printing is enabled
1 entry in spool area
Thu Jan 11 15:22:59 1996: waiting for JetDirect1 to come up
Is anybody using such a box, product id:HP J2382B, could they please help in
setting up the printcap entry ?
