Can I put a use a RAID partition for Sybase?

Hello all -

I just loaded Sybase onto an Alpha 2100, 1 processor, 8GB of disk, OSF/1
3.0. Sybase wants to have direct access to one of my disk partitions. I
think we're using UFS.

Here is a df:
Filesystem 512-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
/dev/re0a 127134 105782 8638 92% /
/proc 0 0 0 100% /proc
/dev/re0g 3605822 2365968 879270 73% /usr
/dev/re1g 3605822 1384618 1860620 43% /usr2
/dev/re2g 3605822 1130038 2115200 35% /www
/dev/re3g 3605822 9588 3235650 0% /nws
/dev/rz6c 1275212 304252 970960 24% /cdrom

I'd rather not give it a full 2GB partition, and would like to cut up
/dev/re3g /nws into a couple of smaller ones.

My OSF/1 system administrator manual has walked off, so I'm in the dark
until DEC ships me a new one.

I guess I have two questions:
1. Is the Alpha RAID compatible with Sybase?
2. When I get the DEC system admin manual - will it tell me how to
repartition?
If not - is there another manual I should get as well?

Thanks, pe
