Last year I posted about various problems with vdump/vrestore, the general
thrust being that vrestore cannot correctly restore files to the state they
were in at the time of an incremental restore.
I received information that the relevant engineering group were aware of some
problems, but that there were few customer problem reports. I was encouraged
to submit my problems through the proper channels.
I sent in a comprehensive exposition of my problems, citing 4 specific bugs.
One of these was known. The other three were escalated to engineering, and I
have been told that they will be fixed in a future release.
The QAR numbers are 42783, 42784 and 42785.
Since I firmly believe that the problems are fundamental design flaws rather
than coding errors, I fear that this is the best I could hope for.
