How to redirect /tmp -options?

I'm using osf/1 ver 3.2b. My root has 94% capacity (of 64 MB). An
application we are using populates the /tmp with files when printing -
causing it to fill up. The application can not be changed. I've got an
unused partition on a different device which is available to me.
How should I proceed to redirect? Is there anything which might affect
other operations?
