Using HP Optical drives on AlphaStation 250

Hi,

I wish to use an HP SureStore Optical 1300t optical disk drive with an
AlphaStation 250 4/266, running DEC Unix V3.2C. Do I need any special
software drivers for this? I dont seem to have the right /dev files
for the drive - neither /dev/rz* nor /dev/ra* works.
