We are running a ALPHA 2000 with ultrix. The problem we have is this...
When logging on to the system, either directly, using terminal emulation
software, telnet, or through a terminal server, there is a 1 minute delay on
login.
It gets better...
It doesn't happen all the time. It seems every 3rd to 4th login will delay.
This does not seem to be a network problem. You get the Login prompt, enter
your userid, then your password. At the point of entering your password and
pressing return the 1 minute delay occurs. After 1 minute, it carries on
logging in. This affects all userid's including root.
Have removed the "last" function as it was suggested this could be causing
the problem, but this made no difference.
Any ideas?
