Interrogating a terminal

   Hello DU Managers,

After using the list for some time now, its my turn to post a
query. I have an application which is being moved from a VMS
environment to Digital Unix (V3.2b). On the VMS side, we used
DCL (set term/inquire) to interrogate the terminal to determine
its type (ID setting on SETUP) EG vt100,vt200,vt300 etc.

Is there a shell utility (command) etc. that can implement this
from inside a shell script. Failing that, has anyone implemented
        this and how.

All replies welcome, and I will summarize to the group.

   Regards,
   Reggie Jungbahadur.
