obviously i did not gave the list enough information and my problem
is, let's say temporary fixed !

After installing a DEFTA-UA (100 Mbps CDDI card) controler using
DU3.2c, the machine ask for the kernel name when a crash occurs OR
when typing the reboot command in single user mode !
This is the same disk/OS and the problem occurs even when typing :
boot -fl s -fi genvmunix
at the console prompt
retyping the kernel name when asked or typing return at the question
solve the problem.
This an emergency for us ... the systems MUST reboot by it self !
Any idea ???

1- NO CHANGES was made on the environement variables (console vars)
