Dear OSF Managers,
We would like to print in duplex mode on an HPLJ4M+ from a multivendor
unix environment including Digital Unix (OSF/1).
We are currently able to select the envelope feeder on a non-networked
HPLJ4 by a adding "2 setpapertray" after the "statusdict begin" statement
that is found in every PostScript file created by the dvips command.
So I called HP and asked for the Postscript Level 2 commands required to
make use of the duplexing on the HPLJ4M+. Here's what they told me:
%!<</duplex true/deferred media selection true
/mediaposition 3
/pagesize [612 792]
>> setpagedevice
clippath stroke showpage
clippath stroke showpage Ctrl-d Ctrl-p
I was told to put these lines between the %%EndComments line and the
%%BeginDocument: line
I was also told the following escape codes:
simplex: \027&l0S
duplex long edge: \027&l1S
duplex short edge: \027&l2S
My questions are:
1) Has anyone been successful printing in duplex mode from OSF/1?
2) Will this method work, and if so, where exactly should these lines go?
3) Is there an easier method?
4) Does paper orientation make a difference?
Thank you for your help. I will summarize to the list.
