My original question was:
What does the message "fcntl: Local lock-manager not registered"
in the dxconsole window mean?
The solution was simple: I didn't enable nfs-locking.
It can be enabled by setting the parameter NFSLOCKING to 1 in the
/etc/rc.config file and rebooting the machine. If NFSLOCKING is set
to 1 the rpc.statd and rpc.lockd are started at boot-time.
The lock-manager is used to lock areas of files for read or write
access.
I don't know what dangerous things can happen, if nfs-locking
isn't enabled.
Many thanks to Don Weyel and Olle Eriksson who pointed me
to enable nfs-locking.
