Dear ALPHA-managers,
we have a problem with our network of DEC 3000/[3467]00 and 4/266, all
running DU 3.2:
When we do a 'ls' on a remote drive, we sometimes miss some files
that really exist. After a while (some minutes or hours), they appear
again. Even 'make' sometimes misses these files. This error does not
depend on HW/SW version of the affected machines.
Some data on our systems: uname -a
1 * 3000/300LX OSF1 axpmi5 V3.2 214 alpha
1 * 3000/300X OSF1 axpmi5 V3.2 214 alpha
7 * 3000/400 OSF1 axpmi5 V3.2 214 alpha
2 * 3000/600 OSF1 axpmi5 V3.2 214 alpha
2 * 3000/700 OSF1 axpmi5 V3.2 214 alpha
4 * 4/266 OSF1 axpmig V3.2 17 alpha
all connected via FDDI execept 3 machines that are gatewayed and
connected via Ethernet. But this effect also shows up if we stay in the
FDDI subnet.
There are also 12 DECstations 5000/2[04]0 running ULTRIX 4.2 gatewayed
via Ethernet.
Did anyone observe similar problems or - even better - knows the reason
for that behaviour ?
Many thanx in advance !
