.login file being trashed

        One user from a remote site is having the following problem.
His .login, .cshrc and .profile file are being replaced by empty
files. I think this is happening when he tries to login. Also
I am seeing core dumps from login in the / directory.

        I am running OSF1 v2.0 on a DEC 3000
