attached mail follows:
Something very strange started happening today on one of our Alphas (only
on one of the four). The internet services failed at one point today, so
I reset them using /usr/sbin/rcinet restart. That was fine, for about five
minutes, when it failed again. This has continued all day long - for about
five minutes after an rcinet restart, the internet services go down. This
is only happening to one of our machines, which I find most unusual. Now
here is some background to let those gurus out there figure out what I've
done.
Today I reconfigured a machine (b.b.b.b, formerly b.b.b.a) which we used to have
in the group to have a different IP address and of course a different name. The
OLD IP address of this machine (b.b.b.b, formerly b.b.b.a) is the same as the one
(currently called b.b.b.a) which is now failing .
I only noticed the strange failing of internet services after I booted
up the reconfigured old machine. Is there something that I might have done
which has caused this problem?
Todd
