I am DU 3.2C on an AlphaServer 1000 and I am attempting to bootp
a few devices. My main concern is an HP LaserJet 4M+. I have had this
printer operational for sometime by simply doing front panel
configuration. I also tested it with rarp, and it can get its IP that
way. I finally got bootp to work, and I was able to telnet to the
printer for awhile, and I could tell it got the additional information
provided by bootp. (Net mask, syslog server, etc...) Anyway, I have
tftp setup for /tftpboot. I get either an "Access Violation" or a "File
not found" message in lpr.log from the printer concerning its
cofiguration file which is supposed to be stored in /tftpboot. I have
all combinations of the few options there are for runnig bootp and tftpd,
and they are called from inetd. However if I try to telnet to port 69 of
my machine, the connection is refused. If tftp is running on the port
(according to services, it is) shouldn't it connect? I would assume
thats why the printer can't get its config file. I have included my
bootptab below. Also, what is the format of /etc/tftptab? I am also
running C2 security.
As you can see, I have played with the config a bit. I am mainly
concerned with the first entry, burns.
