DXterm incompatibilities

I've just upgraded from a DECstation 3100 (Ultrix 4.2c) to an
AlphaStation 200 4/166 (DU 3.2D). To connect to our VAX (VMS 5.5-2 with
Multinet 3.1B; yeah, it's old but conditions with existing software
didn't permit an upgrade and it's leaving anyway) I did an 'rsh' to the
VAX and fired off a command procedure that did a SET
DISPLAY/CREATE/TRANSPORT=TCPIP and CREATE/TERMINAL. This worked fine
under Ultrix. However, when doing the same thing on DU, the DXterm
window comes up fine but the keys don't behave the same way. For
instance, the backspace key moves the cursor to the beginning of the
line, the keypad delete acts like the backspace should, and the such
like. I checked the key maps and everything's defined properly.

Is this correctable or is it just due to the differences between X11
versions (R4 versus R6)? Thanks.
