Sorry, perhaps it is a FAQ.

Has anybody successfully compiled gs-2.6.2 on DU 3.2?
I had a strange problem with it.
I can display without any problem "graphics" file (such as tiger.ps that
comes with gs) but when I try do display a file with "text" (such as
dvips output of my PhD thesis :-( ) I can only see a very few of black
pixels and I cannot read what is written. I tried with gcc, cc
(I gave up with c89) no sucess. When compiled with cc "tiger" is
monochromatic.

What is funny "old" gs 2.6.1 works fine, but I wanted to add some
devices (pcx for xfig).

I will summarize.

P.S I the README file they do not mention DU nor DEC OSF.
