Lads and Lassies,
As and when I add some new package to my system it creates/adds many
files, which I find it difficult to keep track in order to be able to
remove cleanly and/or update at some later date. For example
installing perl5 the other day adds many files, what do I do if I run
out of disk space say, and want rid of that package. setld packages
can easily be added/deleted, similar to the inst tool on IRIX, and
also make it easy to find out which files are part of which package.
Is there a generic, perhaps PD (GNU) tool which can be used to monitor
administer this situation for other third party/free/etc packages? If
not what do other system managers do to keep a reliable inventory of
their system's installed packages
Cheers,
Kevin
