[Q] /dev/kmem

Dear Gurus,

I'm running DU 3.2c on a 2100 4/275

All of a sudden, the monitor program "top" stopped working.

If launched by root, top reports "0 processes" in the summary and displays
NO active job. Just nothing.

If lauched by a "normal" user, the answer is "/dev/kmem: permission denied".

The status of /dev/kmem is:

cr--r----- 1 root mem 2, 1 May 3 1995 kmem

Any idea of what could happen?
