Thanks for all the feedback on this subject.

The problem was how to compile SNMP under OSF/1 and several solutions to
this have beed put forward.

One solution that was offered was to download a library from :
http://www.rdt.monash.edu.au/~anthony/snmpy/snmpy.html

This, however, was a python interface to SNMP, which included a modified
version of the CMU SNMP library. This compiled fine but I did not manage
to test it since I could not find Python on my system.

By far the best solution I found was discovered by a web search and was
to download The Universityy of California release which is a modified
port of the CMU 2.1.2.1 snmp agent. This claimed to compile under OSF/1
V3.2 and to my great suprise, it did. I have not tested it extensively
but as far as I can see everything appears to be working.
You can download this from :
        ftp://ftp.ece.ucdavis.edu:/pub/snmp/ucd-snmp-3.0.6.tar.gz

If you have any problems with this feel free to mail me and I will do
what I can.
