Hi,
The reason why I cannot configure my EISA RAID Card SWXCR-EB (3 ports)
is that the wrong RAM module was inserted.
A SIMM RAM (with parity) is required to the RAID board.

Hi Managers,
We are using DU 3.2c and would like to install the EISA RAID controller
SWXCR-EB (EISA bus, 3 channels) into the Alpha 2100.
We have upgraded the Alpha firmware (ARC) to version 4.1 (by using
Firmware Updating CD 3.3) and use ECU 1.8 to config the card in slot 6
(StorageWorks Manual section 9.3). I don't know if the configuration is
right or something wrong because ...
We cannot perform 'Setting Controller Parameters' (section 9.4)
or 'Updating the Firmware on an AXP System' (section 9.2.2). Both
operations display the error configuration messages. It means both
'swxcrmgr' and 'swxcrfw' cannot be executed.
When we restart the Alpha 2100 (4xRZ28 is installed), the SWXCR-EB can
be detected but the message shown:
Waiting for dra.0.0.1006.0 to poll
Waiting for dra.0.0.1006.0 to poll
Waiting for dra.0.0.1006.0 to poll
Waiting for dra.0.0.1006.0 to poll

Waiting for dra.0.0.1006.0 to poll
Waiting for dra.0.0.1006.0 to poll
No any RAID member can be detected.
Now, does anyone can tell me:
1) What type of RAM is used in this card? There is a 4M RAM when shipped
but it lost somehow. Is it a simple SIMM RAM or RAM with parity check?
2) Is it possible to upgrade to firmware from 1.99 to 2.15?
(Manual said that we can execute 'swxcrmgr' to setup parameters
before firmware upgrade, Page 9-2)
3) Is it a must to connect all cable and disks before 'swxcrmgr' is
running? We have connect cable in Channel 0. Cable part no?
4) Does any one do the similar installation?
I will try to collect more details information for your reference.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Dicky Shum
