Hi there,
when I checked my /var/adm/sialog I noticed that su's to root are
not logged correctly. It tells me
SIA:ERROR Fri Mar 22 13:08:30 1996
Failure on authentication for su from root to root
and so on. But that is not true. It was not su'ed from root to root
but from userx to root. I am not able to see who su'ed to root (or
tried!) or to any other user. The su'er is always supposed to be root.
This happened after the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.2C (as far as I can see today; it
was in september '95).
We run 3.2C on an alpha 2100. I will summarize.
Any clues?
