Just to add a footnote to the earlier summary (see below): on the first
tape that we wrote on the TZ877N, for which we used BOTH software (provided
as part of Networker) and hardware (provided by the TZ877N) compression,
the tape took 11GB before it reported that it was full. I turned off
the software compression, and already we have 15GB on the tape and it is
still going strong. Since our primary concern is how much we can fit on
the tape, we are going to continue with the current configuration of
hardware compression only.
