Dear List members,
RE: " A Command line DUA using LDAP on DEC Alphas "
My organistaion is migrating our X.400 (1984) VAX based e-mail
infra-structure to an X.400 (1992) DEC Alpha based e-mail infra-
structure. This means that the DEC DDS concept we used under
the VAX will now be replaced by DEC X.500 which will provide the
same fucntionality under DEC UNIX.
In changing our infra-satructure we have split up the new MAILworks
server functionaity onto two systems. One system acts as a mail
router (MROUT) and the other as a mailer server (MSERV). Most
of the MAILworks s/w runs on the MROUT system, however the
actual mail clients (Mailworks X GUI and Command Line(CL)) run
from the MSERV system, which also holds the user message stores.
My problem is that I need to provide access to the X.500 directory
from the CL client and therefore need an ldap compliant dua on the
MSERV system to gain access to X.500 via the ldap server running
on the MROUT system. Our main PC mail client Teamlinks and the
Mailworks X client both access the X.500 directory with no problems.
We need a CL capability for a significant sector of our community of
users and the lack of access to X.500 basically makes the CL useless.
The MROUT system configurations are currently one of an AXP
Alpha 3000/300(L/LX) running DEC Unix 3.2a. All our MSERV
configurations are currently PCI Alpha 200 4/100 systems running
DEC UNIX v3.2a.
Yours in hope,
David
