Sun vs. DEC, Solaris vs. DU, SPARC vs. Alpha

Hello,

We have a heterogenous network of DEC and SPARC machines. So far the
distribution is about equal. (i.e., 1 DEC and 1 SPARC ;)). We are
looking to invest in new equipment and are considering the Sun SPARC 5
110 MHz and the DEC 200 4/100 (which we already have one of). We also
have a Sun SPARC 20 multiprocessor. The reason for our indecision is the
fact that our SPARC is running Solaris 2.3 and we dont know how is the
2.5 version.

In other words, the hardware is about equal (slight lean in favor of the
DEC...) and so it would be the OS that would be the deciding factor.

What I am asking is peoples opinions (hopefully supported with
experience) who have used both. Also what these people would do if they
were faced with our situation and why.

Keep in mind that our DEC is running NIS as the master server and also
exporting NFS filesystems (the DEC is running DU 3.2c). Issues such as
support for NFS V3 in Solaris 2.5 come to mind...

I promise to summarize!
- Thank you!
