The patch is the file fifo_vnops.o that needs to be placed in the /sys/BINARY directory before building a new kernel. Without this patch Ileaf6 lets "zombi" processes that use a *lot of* system resources (virtual memory). After going round and round with Interleaf and DEC, DEC finally sent a patch that fixed our problem.
