Hey now everybody,
I have an alphaserver 1000 4/266, with 64 Megs of RAM, running DU 3.2D-1
with 2 DE450 ethernet cards acting as a screening router.
It is running the fairly current gated bits (3.5 beta) and running screend
that is shipped with DU3.2D.
This machine is doing essentially nothing but running screend and gated, I
have turned off most other processes, and reniced screend to -15.
I am trying to make this machine run as fast as possible.
What I would like to know is:
1) Is there any advantage or problem with upgrading screend to the latest bits?
2) Is there any sort of network parameter tuning that I should do? (and if
so how? :-)
